UT - Program Philosophy
Why should I join UT? How does UT help me in preparing for Std. X?
UT considers itself as a reinforcement agency to school. UT believes in 'Read before going to class'. Every student is not able to follow this sincerely. Hence UT provides programs that comprehensively reinforce the school studies.
UT will provide you with a structure and discipline. Students who successfully attend our 100% program come out successful. Our past result statistics of having more than 50% of our students securing more than 90% in Maths, Science and Social Studies is a testimony to the same. (Also refer our detailed philosophy in our prospectus)

I have heard that syllabus is taught at a very fast pace in the vacation-batch, is it true?
False, in-fact our teachers spend probably slightly greater number of hours than that recommended by the Boards. It is felt this way primarily because our lectures are more efficient (1½ hour duration) and the program is packed more closely in the months on March to June and not spread out for the full year.
Why Mathematics and Science are compulsory subjects in the vacation program?
We at UT have a team of 24 teachers teaching across all branches, all batches. Professors across all branches, batches remain the same. On any given day we conduct 4 lectures of 1½ hour duration for every batch. For optional subjects it becomes mandatory that the lectures of optional subjects are either scheduled in the beginning or at the end.
What is the difference between Gold and Platinum Program?
Gold Program is designed for students aiming to utilize their summer vacation effectively. The program utilizes all Public Holidays, Sundays and Summer Vacations. The basic motto of the program is to complete the syllabus in advance of school. The batch will consist of 45-50 students only.
Platinum Program is same as gold program except for the fact that here the batch will consist of only 15-20 students each. This is designed for students looking for exclusive personal attention in Math and Science Only.
Why only Mathematics and Science subjects are taught in the Platinum program?
The concept of private tuition is predominantly required by certain students for Math and Science, as these subject require in depth conceptual understanding that can be better achieved in a smaller group.
Will there be any lecture clash if I join both Gold and Platinum Program?
No, there will be no clash as the lectures will be planned accordingly.
Are there separate professors coaching for Gold and Platinum Program?
No. same professors will be coaching for both the programs.
Can I attend platinum in one branch and gold in the other?
No, both the programs have to be attended in one branch only.

My seniors tell me to join only test series. Should I join vacation or test series?
Test Series is an add-on program and is not an independent program. We at UT have observed a phenomenon that some of our graduating students recommend their juniors UT Test Series over the UT Vacation Batch.
As students join in the Vacation Batch and write the tests in the month of April, May for the Vacation Batch, they do not score very good marks. This is because they have recently studied new syllabus and it takes time to grasp and comprehensively master it. But as same students progress into the test series their familiarity with the syllabus increases and also their performance. Thus, they score far better marks in the Test Series tests. Such students form an opinion Test Series is better; Vacation Batch was not so good. In forming such opinion they have completely ignored the fact that it is their firm grounding of the Vacation Batch that resulted in better performance in Test Series.
Statistically students joining only Test Series, face problems. If they did not comprehensively cover the syllabus in advance, test-series does them no good. Thus we at UT do not recommend only Test Series. We recommend Vacation + Test Series.

Will Vacation and Test Series programs clash with each other? Can I join both the programs?
No, the Vacation and Test Series program never clash with each other. They are designed in such a way that a student can very comfortably join both of them.
Will joining everything make it stressful for the student?
Historically, 81% of our students join our entire program, remaining joining as per their needs. As UT takes adequate care in adjusting with the school schedule, it is not stressful.
UT and School: How to manage?
How do I manage both school and UT?
We at UT consider ourselves as an 'Academic Reinforcement Agency' to school. Schools are the basic education provider. Having said this if you will appreciate the basic philosophy of the program 'Read before going to Class'.
We at UT understand and appreciate student's priorities at school. Keeping the same in mind, we have designed the program in such a way that in the earlier months from March to June, UT finishes the 70% portion. In these months the school load is relatively less heavy.
As the school load begins to get heavy, from July/ Aug onwards our engagement starts tapering down from 3 days to 2 days a week to only 1 day a week (on Sundays) from September onwards. Thus the student has ample time to manage the school load.

What is expected by UT - how much time should I spend at home to cover my studies? How do I manage my time at home?
As regards how much time to spend in studying for UT, we at UT expect a maximum of 6-8 hours of study per week. Please note it is per week.
If there is a test at school and UT, which should I give more priority?
We recommend students to prioritize the school exams but at the same time do not recommend bunking the UT test. We strictly recommend to at least appear for the UT test. The UT test will expose your weak areas which can be then worked upon. If you cannot give it on the scheduled date and time, you can also take a 'Late Attempt'. See Late Attempt procedure.

Will there be difference in the style of coaching by school and UT? How do I cope with it?
From our experience of last 10 years of coaching students of Std. X, we at UT can very confidently state that there will be negligible difference in the style of coaching by school and UT.
Here we are assisted by the fact that all of us UT, school, students are being prepared for a common exam i.e. the Board exam. The Boards both CBSE, ICSE put up lot of information on their respective websites that help us to not have different teaching and marking styles.
Like for example the CBSE board every year provides with exact Blue-print of the expected Board paper, with detailed marking scheme. It also displays the corrected answer sheets of students getting 100% marks in previous years on it's website in their own handwriting. Thus these all make sure that there is no difference in the teaching methodology.
